Considered the "world's greatest rock and roll band", The Rolling Stones were formed in London in 1962 and were received as symbols and leaders of rebellious youth. The first line up consisted of by Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. The band was originally led by Jones, but after teaming as co-writers Jagger and Richards assumed the role. In 1993 Wyman left the band, since then the full band has consisted of Jagger, Richards, Watts and in 1975 Ronnie Wood joined the band, replacing Mick Taylor who had followed Jones. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted The Rolling Stones in 1989. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list and estimated album sales are above 200 million.
